How it works

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)

MLD is a form of subtle massage that uses special movements along the lymphatic pathways with the goal of enabling better flow of the lymphatic and venous system, without affecting arterial blood flow. This massage is gentle and encourages the formation of new lympho-venous anastomoses, with relaxing and analgesic effects.

MLD uses specific movements: stationary circles, pump technique, scoop and rotary movements. It is indicated for lymphedema, phleboedema, lipoedema, post-traumatic/post-operative edema, arthropathy, rheumatic conditions, CRPS and scars. The absolute contraindication for performing MLD is malignancy.
